Clarified the API for addChild. The function always mallocs a

new copy of the child. Added a new function, mergeAsChild(XML_Node &), for
the case where a malloc is not wanted.
Made setRoot() a recursive function, as it should be.

Changed GibbsExcessVPSSTP so that getLnActivityCoefficient() is central.
The straight activity coefficients may not be representable within
machine limits.
